Barking and Dagenham Citizens

Our organisation is currently a member of Barking and Dagenham Citizens, an alliance of hundreds of people from schools, faith institutions, universities, and community groups., part of the East London Citizens Organisation (TELCO). Together, we organise to tackle injustice in our local communities. We have recently been campaigning for a real living wage for social care workers. WANT TO JOIN OUR BOROUGH ALLIANCE? We’re always looking for new member organisations that share our passion for developing community leaders and achieving social change! Our recent highlights:

Since its founding in 2017 we have:

  • Won over £2m worth of improvements to TFL bus routes to and from local schools, to ensure young people can travel safer
  • Ensured Rose Lane, Marksgate was resurfaced for residents
  • Campaigned for youth and street safety
  • Fought for more jobs that pay a Real Living Wage across the borough

Our organisation co-chaired our recent Accountability Assembly in April and won commitments from East Area Superintendent Butterfield to work with us on tackling youth safety, an agreement to meet twice a year from the Council Leader and a commitment to support us in getting a Real Living Wage for Care Workers through their role in the new Integrated Care Systems.
